RP200a: Creating New Patches and Developing Your Signature Sound

Much of the information about the RP200A Artist Amp Modeling Multi-Effects Processor centers around the 80 artists and factory preset patches that come with the unit. Sounding like your favorite guitarists is a great goal. This allows you to play songs at gigs that band mates know and the audience already loves.

But if you think about it, your favorite artist had to develop their own original sound. Maybe they piggybacked from someone else's sound, too. If you've owned the RP200A Modeling Guitar Processor for any length of time, it's time to step out from behind these preset patches and begin to develop your sound.

What defines you? When are you going to sound like...you? Do you feel confident to start writing your own songs and patches? Stop focusing on the 80 presets. Begin punching your 40 patches into the storage containers that Digitech has given you. The best way to think about it is you have 40 original songs that you need to write.

How do you start creating your signature sound? Here are 5 tips to help you begin developing your own sound and patches.

[1] Think about other musical instruments. Piano, organ, slide guitar, oboe, harp, harmonica, bass, and trumpet sounds should all be punched into your unit. Create songs around these "instruments".

[2] Think about sounds for ideas. How would "clouds rolling across the sky" sound? What would a "revolution" sound like? What would be a great sound for "fear"? How about a "patriotic flag"?

[3] Start mixing guitar sounds with other earthly tones. How about distortion with a cello? What about backslap with a train off in the distance? I'd love to hear a bass guitar mimicking a huge dinosaur walking through a forest!

[4] Check out the Digitech RP200a forums for patches that users have submitted. If you're trying to develop your own sound, punch a couple of these user patches into your unit.

[5] Visit my site at http://rp200a.home.comcast.net for a comprehensive listing of all 80 of the patches that come with the DigiTech RP200A Modeling Guitar Processor. You can start from these patches to develop your own.

In conclusion, you can start making a name for yourself by writing patches for your songs. Don't worry if you can't sing. Write down your lyrics and let someone else belt out your original songs. Every cover band should include at least one song that defines them and your guitar should play a huge part in every original tune. Remember, original is as original does!

New York Foreclosure Listings: The Best Deals Out There

If theres one location in the country that is always in demand for a wide range of different kinds of real estate, its New York. And buying the best properties in this great state can be incredibly simple and affordable when you learn to buy them through New York foreclosure listings. New York state has it all, from picturesque rural areas in the north, to the one and only Big Apple in the south. No matter what kind of home youre looking for or for what reason, youll find it here. New York City is one of the few places in the country where real estate is constantly in extremely high demand. Over the past decade alone, the city and its boroughs have seen incredible development and growth, driving up property values all over. Investing in an apartment, home or business property here would be an extraordinary opportunity, because the chance for appreciation in value and profits on sales in the future is practically guaranteed. If youre looking for a place to live for you or your family, you cant beat the cultural and economic resources New York has to offer. If youre looking for something a little slower paced, scenic Westchester County is home to beautiful suburban towns within short distances of the city, making it handy for commuters. Further north and west, Buffalo, Binghamton and the capital city of Albany are all great places to raise a family, and truly offer some gems when it comes to great real estate. New York also has more than its share of beautiful rural scenery and vacation spots, from the rugged terrain of the Finger Lakes and Catskill Mountain regions to the resort town of Saratoga Springs. New York foreclosure listings offer the buyer the chance to buy great homes in all of these incredible locations, but for way below their actual market value!

Buying New York real estate foreclosures is the perfect chance to make a great real estate investment even more valuable. Since these unique properties are being sold by mortgage lenders as a means of collecting the debt owed by a defaulted homeowner, its often possible to find huge discounts when they are sold through auctions and other public sales. Since a lender only needs to sell a defaulted home for a portion of its actual value in order to collect enough to cover their losses, they will often allow for these properties to be undersold simply to encourage a sale. In fact, most investors and homebuyers using New York foreclosure listings to find homes end up savings anywhere from 10 to 50% off market price when they buy! This means an incredible chance for savings for new homeowners, and an even greater margin for profits if youre a real estate investor! New York real estate foreclosures allow you to jump into the market in a great position, so that you can get the most out of your purchase.

Foreclosure Investing is one of the smartest ways to buy real estate these days, and best of all anyone can learn how to do it. While some are turned off prematurely by the idea of handling a sale without an agent, as long as you know how to find the kinds of homes you want, buying is a cinch. Try starting with a foreclosure list to get a good idea of everything thats available locally in the area that interests you. Using listings gives you the opportunity to view homes before visiting them, so you can focus on the right properties from the start. Learn more today and buy your next property through New York foreclosure listings!

Old School (DVD) Review

One of the funniest movies of 2003, Old School is silver screen gold for anyone who lived the life of a college party animal or once inhabited the halls of a beloved fraternity house. In the spirit of Animal House and PCU, Old School brings together a strange amalgam of immature males who wreck havoc on their college campus through wild parties, outrageous pranks, and outright criminal activities. Starring Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn, and Will Farrell (of Saturday Night Live fame), Old School reads like a great SNL skit. You'll laugh yourself silly over this one.

When Mitch Martin (Luke Wilson) returns home early from a business seminar at his extraordinarily boring job, he finds his girlfriend cheating on him. They break up, and he's forced to move out. Moving into an off-campus dwelling at his old school, Mitch's friends Frank Ricard (Will Farrell) and Bernard "Beanie" Campbell (Vince Vaughn) reminisce about the glory of their fraternity days. The days of all fun and no work Frank gets married, despite Beanie's attempts to talk him out of it at the altar (during the ceremony), but he quickly grows despondent and longs to enjoy the freedom of his youth once again. Meanwhile, Beanie is a bona fide family man with a successful business, but he too would like to relive the fun of their fraternity days.

Together, the three men decide to turn Mitch's house into a fraternity. They recruit a series of misfit students from around campus - nerds, social rejects, homeless men, and ninety-year-old womanizers. The hazing rituals are beyond description, and the parties are ridiculously outlandish and hilarious. All is going well (for everyone but Frank whose wife catches him running down main street naked) until Dean of Student Affairs Gordon Pritchard (Jeremy Piven), a former estranged classmate of the three men, decides to crack down on the fraternity. When he does, the fraternity must pass a series of tests and obstacles in order to retain their charter (and this, the climatic high-point of the film, is also the funniest of all).

Fun from beginning to end, Old School will not win any awards for dramatic scenes or cinematography. But it will win a lot of points as an outright hilarious comedy. If you haven't seen this film, then you really don't know what you're missing. Old School is a classic cult comedy fulfilling the dreams of countless former college fraternity members who ache to relive the greatest party days of their lives. Because it's so funny, Old School is a definite must-see film. Miss it at your own risk.

Useful Advice For Cats: How To Care For Your Human

For us cats there are several sweet advantages in having a human as a pet. But remember you are taking on a big responsibility when you adopt one or more humans. Humans are demanding pets that need daily care and attention.

With responsibility come both advantages and disadvantages. If you adopt a human you must get used to spending time at home. Your human does not deal well with being left alone - they will get into all sorts of mischief. For example, if you are gone just two or three days you run the risk of seeing posters put up all over the neighborhood. Your human will put out an APB on you ! Often with an embarrassing text that reveals all sorts of personal details - and usually accompanied by an unflattering photo of you - with morning fur and crumpled whiskers. Exactly the kind of thing that attracts ridicule from all the neighbor cats.

So please consider carefully if you are ready for a life with humans. And remember humans generally grow very old, so there is a big chance that you will spend the rest of your life with your human.

Entertaining your Human

The litter box provides a great opportunity for entertaining your human. Naturally there is all the fun your human can have cleaning and scooping out the box. A lot of human time can also be used getting fresh litter - going to the pet store, transporting it home etc. However many humans like new challenges. Utilize your litter box time in making interesting and artistic renderings of countries or well known islands. Your human will have lots of fun guessing which one you made. Humans like game-shows - so this should be a popular activity. When your human increases in skill you can also make portraits of family and friends. Start with profile portraits - this will make it easer for your human.

Shredding

Make it a priority to shed indoors on appropriate surfaces. Fleece is a particularly suitable material to shred on. All you need to do is pass close by your human when he or she is wearing fleece. All cat hair within a radius of about 2 feet from the fabric will immediately be transferred to your human. No brushing necessary for several days ! Another good solution is to get access to a filled clothes hamper. Jump into it and give all contents a good work over. An extra bonus with this method is that most cat hairs will survive a trip to the washing machine. Your human will be stylishly accessorized with cat hair on all outfits.

Extra Food

All chances for a bit of extra food must and should be taken advantage of. Whenever your human is in the kitchen there is a prime opportunity of getting an extra snack. When your human is busy at the kitchen table place yourself in your humans blind angle (just behind the ankle is usually a good spot). And the second your human moves one of both feet you jump back screaming your most heart-wrenching cry. Your human will automatically assume that he/she stepped on you. When your human looks back scared to see what is happening look up at him/her with a painful expression on your face (practice this before hand in front of a mirror). Your human's bad conscience will often result an edible apology.

Grass Etiquette

Before you eat grass make sure that you are close to a suitable place to throw up on. Delicate furniture fabrics, precious carpets, and shoes are all good places. If you choose furniture aim for the part that has non-removable fabric. When you are getting down to business make sure you back up a step or two so that you cover the largest area possible. Another technique is to do several items with pauses in-between. Persian carpets will give a good camouflage effect and your little gift will often not be discovered until somebody steps in it.

Preventing your human from wasting valuable time

One of the most important tasks we cats have is to prevent humans in wasting their time. Humans love to spend their time on things with no relevance for cats. For example watching TV, reading, talking on the phone - and many other things that have no entertainment value for us cats what so ever. A lot of methods can be used to prevent human time waste - use your imagination. Some especially effective techniques will be mentioned here.

Watching TV; make sure that you always position yourself between the TV and your human. On the coffee table for example. You can also lie on the TV and let you tail or paws swing down in front of the screen. This method is most effective on small screens where you can cover a large percentage of the screen. It is a bit trickier with a flat screen - and only recommended for the agile kitty. A variation can be used with a computer screen. The new flat screens often leave a lot of empty space on the desk - so just get up in front - remind your human of how wonderful you are.

Cleaning; stalk the vacuum cleaner and attack when it passes by. You can also pretend that you want to attack the vacuum cleaner but "accidentally" catch a foot instead.

Garden work; jump repeatedly up-and-down and scatter any leaves that your human has raked together. Attack gardening tools - especially while they're being used. Immediately dig up any newly planted seeds, plants and flowers.

Closed Doors

Under no circumstances accept closed doors that separate you from your human. At any and all times you have a right to know what your human is doing. If the situation do arise when you by accident have been placed on the wrong side of a door you need to make your human aware of this ASAP so he/she can remedy the situation immediately. Loud meows and scratching on the door should be sufficient to get your humans attention. If this is ignored you need to take more drastic measures: Make a sound as if you are going to throw up. This sound can be heard by all humans in a 50 feet radius. This sound can also be heard through closed doors. The "puke sound" will always result in your human's immediate presence.

Sleeping Time

It is important for us cats to prioritize our sleeping time. The objective is to get as much sleep done as possible while your human is awake. You will then be especially well rested and bushy-tailed at night when it is your job to keep your human awake. You can for example use the classical "cat-play with toes" and attack everything that moves under the duvet. You can also reenact highlights from last year's Grand National Steeplechase by revealingly galloping across the bed. A couple of loud meows will give it an extra exiting dimension for your human

Houseguests

Houseguests require special attention and handling. The following procedures should be followed:

Houseguests that either do not like us or are allergic to us: As soon as they sit down - jump onto their lap.

Noisy children that run after you and/or pull your tail: It is your duty to punish them - it can be necessary to use both claws and teeth. However be prepared that this can result in noise that is even more annoying and of an even louder decibel level.

Guests that try to get in contact with you by ingratiating themselves and speaking in a sweet voice: Should just be ignored. If they try to approach you, back away 5-6 feet - never further away than they feel encouraged to try again. With a bit of practice this game can he kept going for hours.

Bad Weather

Even in bad weather it can be necessary to go outside. The rain and wet ground will result in an unpleasant layer of dirt and mud on your paws. However this can easily be dried off on certain appropriate indoor spots. Find a light carpet, a duvet cover or nice piece of furniture and walk over it a couple of times. When your paw tracks are almost invisible your paws are clean and you are ready to go outside again.

Training your Human

Sometimes it can be necessary to discipline even a well-trained human. However do remember never to hit a human. At the most mark with a soft paw on the human's arm or hands. But try first to make your human understand what it has done wrong. And most importantly: be patient! The human intellect is relatively limited and it can be difficult for them to understand our wishes and needs.

Even after approximately 5000 years of domestication the human species still has primitive instincts and it does take time to train your human completely.

Door Training

One of the first things you need to teach your human is to open the front door, the garden door and backdoor when required. This is done by walking up to a door and make an impatient and very loud meow. Make some tripping steps with your back paws obviously indicating that you need to go to the outdoor litter box. When your human has gotten up from the couch and opened the door you decide that you do not really need to go outside right now. Just for appearances you can stand in the open door and pretend that you are thinking about the situation for a few seconds before you turn around to go inside again. Repeat this procedure several times a day. This will keep your human in good door opening form.

Inspection of the House

A house usually has unlimited possibilities for suitable sleeping spots. Every possibility no matter how theoretical should be investigated and tested. Cardboard boxes, cupboards, drawers, couches and beds are obvious localities, but places such as old slippers (size 11 or higher) open gymbags or kitchen cupboards should not be overlooked.

The house should further be investigated for all possible toys. An old sock can represent several hours of entertainment if you get your claw on a loose end and unravel a couple of miles worth of yarn. You human will love to tidy up after your play.

Thinking About Your Goals As A Nurse

As the student nurse approaches graduation, thoughts of beginning a career in nursing come to mind. A new nurse should think very seriously about their career goals. These include long term as well as short term goals. As with any path of life that an individual takes, it is not random. Each person that seeks an education does so with a set of plans and directionality for their immediate goals and long term. The idea of graduating from a nursing program once again dictates to the graduate that plans once again must be laid for the road ahead. Nothing worthwhile doing is done haphazardly. All things require preparation. Even as one contemplated going into the nursing field, certain pre-requisites had to be completed before hand. Graduating from a nursing program is another transition phase that must be approached with the same dedication and planning as was first applied. The short synopsis below is a sample of a career goal paper. Everyone will have their own unique career goal paper. Now is a good time to start thinking about career goals.

INTRODUCTION:

The field of nursing attracted me for several reasons. The first reason being, that a nurse is the front line person in caring for others and saving lives. The nurse will in many cases such as in the hospital or homecare environment discover the patient who needs emergency attention before the physician. It will be up to the nurse to respond accordingly within the scope of their practice and hospital procedures. Why does this facet of nursing attract me? Well, it is because that this type of responsibility is not too far off from the type of responsibility that a physician has, which is what I had hoped to become many years ago. Nurses did not have that crucial level of responsibility initially. Because of this, many patients died. For instance, a nurse from the past may not have known the therapeutic values of electrolytes and blood gases thereby putting the patients health in jeopardy. Now, in present times, the nurse must know all of the pertinent lab values and act upon any change immediately, either by calling the physician or implementing standing orders.

The other aspect of nursing that is also attractive to me in becoming a nurse, is that the nurse uses therapeutic communication and treats the patients response to real or perceived illness. This is the corner stone of which nursing is based on. The holistic approach is so successful in helping patients to heal. I am a firm believer that for an individual to be able to heal from without, they must first heal from within. Therefore the nurse can help clients to adapt and grow in a positive way rather than negative. Since all of nursing is now based on evidenced practice, it is exciting to be able to put the scientific method to use. There are now logical and provable reasons that a nurse should take a particular course of action.

These are just some of the reasons which have attracted me to the profession of nursing.

SHORT-TERM CAREER GOALS:

My short-term career goals consist of successfully passing Nursing 255, then passing the national board exam. Once this is accomplished, I hope to be work on a medical-surgical floor and hone my skills as a graduate nurse. I have chosen medical-surgical nursing as a starting point because this particular field will help me to develop my clinical skills.

LONG-TERM CAREER GOALS:

I hope to be an active member in the profession of nursing, joining the American Nurses Association, attending seminars and lobbying for the advancement of nurses to prescribe medication independently. Hopefully within the next five years or so I will have a degree as an advanced practice nurse in the field of family healthcare and be working in an emergency room.

PERSONAL GOALS

My personal goals are humble. Money has never been a goal, rather doing that which enriches the soul. I am thankful to my Lord that I have been given the opportunity to have made it thus far. I take care of my mother and help my family as best I can. I am happiest when I am helping others, and owe a large debt of gratitude to my instructors, who have given of themselves their wealth of knowledge and experience to help produce competent nurses. I hope to make them proud.

"Free" Is Not Free

The old adage, "You get what you pay for" applies on the Internet just like in the offline world. "Free" is never really free.

"Free" is Not Free

"FREE" -- You see it everywhere on the Net. When you dig deeper, you always find that whatever the offer, it is not really free. It will usually cost you your name and email address on a sign up form for a newsletter or some such offer. At the very least, it takes your time to even check it out.

A classic use of "free" on the Net is in web hosting. There are many sites that advertise free web hosting. Now who can turn down a bargain like that? Being a frugal person of Scots heritage, I for one considered it until I really dug down past the top layer.

Historically, many of these hosts have started up and disappeared quickly. Poof, there goes the hard work you invested in setting up your website. Now you have to find another host and go through the process again.

Another group of the free web hosts began as free hosts, and then started charging for services with the hope that the users would pay rather than go through the hassle of moving their website.

Still others require the right to put some form of advertising on your web pages. This does not project a professional image to your viewers.

This is still not the major hidden cost of a free web host.

The real hidden cost of a free web host (or a budget web host) is the lack of services that the host provides.

Put yourself in the position of the CEO of the free web host. How much can you pay for support personnel if you are not charging the user for your services? How solid a hardware system can you afford to host the websites? How much can you invest to guarantee no downtime on the servers?

If the web host does not provide the services as part of your hosting agreement, then you have to provide the services yourself. This causes you to pay for the services or work long, hard hours to compensate for the free web host. Your time is worth money. You should be realistic in your accounting for your time as part of the costs of your business.

If you are not familiar with SEO (if you do not know what SEO means, then you definitely need support); if you do not know how to program in HTML; if you do not know about Google site maps; if you do not know what the new XML sitemaps file at Yahoo looks like; if you do not know about blogging; (the list goes on and on); then you should not be on a free web host.

Unfortunately, if you remain on the free host, odds are you will find that you are included in the over ninety percent of individuals who start out to make a living on the Internet and fail.

The ideal web host should provide you with a multitude of services that all but guarantee that you will be successful. Do you think that a free web host will do that?

The old adage, "You get what you pay for" applies on the Net just like anywhere else.

If you have a small website that is a personal toy or you need a one page site for a landing page, then perhaps a free web host is your answer.

When your website is a serious site that you intend for your income for years to come, be realistic, bite the bullet, and pay for the services that will give you every chance for success.

The decision on which web host to use is the most important decision that you will make as you launch your Internet business. It will spell the difference between success and failure.

Make this decision wisely.

B2B Marketing Accountability: 5 Ways To Prove Your B2B Marketing Efforts Are Paying Off

Your boss wants to see evidence that the money and resources invested in the company's business-to-business marketing activities are really paying off. You start to sweat.

Relax. It is surprisingly easy to prove that B2B marketing is contributing to your company's bottom line. Here's how.

Show the relationship between your marketing and your revenue

Start by looking for sales and revenue that can be linked to marketing activities. Simply compare lists of new customers or invoices to companies or prospects in your marketing database and look for matches. You don't have to find every sale that resulted from your marketing activities. Sometimes all it takes is one big sale to justify a campaign.

If sales haven't closed yet, count the number of qualified leads and use estimated conversion rates and average sales size to quickly determine the sales potential of those leads. Or look at the forecasted sales in the company's CRM system and compare them to the database of prospects, inquiries or qualified leads.

You can also send "Did you buy?" surveys to inquirers and qualified leads, using their answers to show that the prospects being targeted by your marketing are buying from you or the competition. Ask if they bought, and if so, from whom. Ask why and how much they spent. If your sample size is large enough, you can also use the answers you receive to estimate the number of sales and the amount of revenue that are represented by all the inquiries and leads you've generated.

Show how much you saved the company

Just give it some thought and you'll probably come up with a list of things you've done to save your company money or time. For example:

- Printing and postage savings after cleaning the mailing list or delivering the company newsletter by e-mail.

- Savings accomplished by offering electronic versions of literature.

- The money you saved by eliminating non-productive marketing activities

- Time and money saved by automating the capture of Web forms and eliminating some manual data entry.

Show other ways your marketing is more effective

This can range from showing how many more prospects you reached with your marketing messages to indicating the improvements that have been made in cost per impression, cost per inquiry, cost per attendee or cost per qualified lead.

List all the marketing projects your marketing team completed

Marketers often don't think about their own productivity when justifying the money the company invests in marketing. Unfortunately, people quickly forget what happened last month or last quarter. Or they simply have no idea what's involved in creating a mailing or designing a new Web site.

Pointing out the number of marketing projects completed, and all the work steps involved, can be a real eye-opener to others who are completely unaware.

Always be ready to make your case

I recommend that you block out a couple of hours to create your business-to-business marketing accountability reports every month so you'll always have up-to-date results at your fingertips. If you're pressed for time, use an intern or temp to do it for you.

Your results may vary, but consider this ...

A marketer I know recently reported to her management that awareness of their company and products among target prospects more than doubled, the cost per qualified lead delivered to sales by marketing dropped by nearly 40 percent, 58 percent of the opportunities in the sales pipeline were found first by marketing, and 48 percent of the sales closed and 62 percent of the revenue during the past 12 months came from marketing-generated leads.

The result? She received a bigger marketing budget and senior management executives no longer doubt marketing's contribution to the company's success.

Save on Gas

Save On Gas This Summer

Free gas and hotel gas promotions

There are plenty of ways to save on gas this summer and tons of free gas promotions out there. Luckily, http://TravelPost.com is here to help you find them.

Save on gas with these summer hotel gas promotions

First, many hotels offer special gas promotions for guests arriving by car, so make sure to ask your hotel or inn if they have any offers. The hotel promotional offers include vouchers or gift cards for gas. In general, it's the smaller, independent inns that are offering the deals. Guests typically need to stay for at least two nights, usually between Sunday and Thursday, to qualify for rebates or gift cards.

While this certainly isn't an exhaustive list of hotels and inns offering gas specials to guests, it should give you a decent idea of what's out there:

Kubotan for Self Defense

My first experience with a Kubotan made me a true believer in their effectiveness.

It was an autumn day about 5 years ago when I was walking home from a local softball game. I was approached by a rather large man who asked me for a light for his cigarette, when I said I dont have one he grabbed my arm and said then how about your money. I reached into my pocket but instead of money, I pulled out my Kubotan and jammed the end hard into his forearm.

As he pulled away screaming in pain, I wrapped my fist around the Kubotan and prepared to punch him in the face, but it never came to that because he backed away saying I was only joking to which I replied if thats your idea of a joke, dont quit your day job.

The Kubotan was originally introduced by Grandmaster Takayuki Kubota.

Its popularity began in the mid-1970s when Grandmaster Kubota brought the weapon to the attention of the LAPD and began teaching officers how to effectively use the Kubotan to subdue unruly suspects.

The Kubotan gradually expanded toward civilian self-defense application and is now one of the most popular and widely carried self-defense tools around.

The Kubotan is often seen as an oversized key ring ornament.

The end of the Kubotan is a very effective pressure point weapon that can attack any point a finger can, but with greater effectiveness.

If someone grabs you from behind, you can jam the end of the Kubotan into their hand or forearm causing instant pain to your attacker.

The principal targets for use in self-defense are boney parts, such as forearms, back of hand, shins, or even the rib cage, but no matter where a person gets hit, its likely to hurt quite a bit.

The Kubotan can also be used to stabilize your fist for punching.

Kubotans are highly accessible, extremely durable, effective self-defense weapons. The Kubotans are 5 inches long and made of aluminum. They come in various colors and have either pointed or flat tips.

Kubotans are considered non lethal and are legal in most states, but as with any self defense weapons, you should check the legality of Kubotans in your own area.

And as with any weapon, they are intended for self-defense purposes only. If you were to attack someone unprovoked with a Kubotan you would still be guilty of a felonious assault.

Get More Sales From Your Traffic

There are lots of ways to increase your income without having to increase the number of visitors to your site. The easiest is to convert more of the visitors you already get into buyers. Here are a couple of tips to help you convert those shoppers into buyers:

* First, add a 'Johnson Box' to your sales page. What is a Johnson Box you ask? Glad you asked . . .

Some say it's named after the 'Johnson Boxes' at train stations that have offers and brochures displayed, but most agree and credit a direct sales guru named Frank H. Johnson who wanted to increase the conversion rate of his sales letters.

He decided that instead of making his potential customers read through a long sales letter before making his offer, he would highlight it in a rectangular box, centered, and placed at the very top of the letter above the greeting.

The results were fantastic, and the rest, as they say, is history. It's a no-brainer. The box really stands out at the top of the letter, and catches your attention. Your eye just automatically gravitates to the headline. There are statistics claiming the addition of this one little feature can boost sales by almost 20%; which is well worth the effort.

Just remember to put your offer, the main benefit of your service or product, and the URL to visit inside the box. If you have a guarantee now's the time to tout it and if the offer expires in the near future that's even better. (This adds the ticking clock element.)

* Simple changes in your headline can produce unbelievable improvements in your conversion rates. Your headline is probably the most important part of your sales page. You need to hook your visitor and make sure she knows what your website is about, within the first 5 seconds.

Two of the most powerful ways of doing this are to either ask a question or remind them of their deepest worries - or better yet, do both. Why? Because questions grab their attention and beg to be answered and by reminding them of their problems they become more emotional; and buying is an emotional decision.

* Drop caps continue to prove themselves on sales pages while marketers continue to overlook this easy improvement. Maybe that's the problem; it seems too simple. But testing it has shown this simple change will increase conversion rates.

Long before there was an online to advertise on, many advertisers and marketers were using drop caps to improve sales; you'll recognize names like American Express, Dove, Ford, IBM, Kodak, Shell, and Sears.

This one change could improve your conversion numbers by over 10%. For an example of a drop cap, go to EarnOnYourComputer.com.

* Adding a post script (P.S.) is very compelling. Maybe it's because it seems more personal; but the P.S. is almost as important as your headline. There are several things you want to remind your reader of in the typical post script; tell them again about the guarantee, remind them of how bad things will be if they don't have your service or product and show them that ticking clock once more.

Making these simple changes to your website or sales page should be enough to see a marked improvement in your sales figures. As with any changes to your website - test - test - test.

40 Boxcars and Their Different Types

Modelers of HO trains model after specific railroad periods of the United States and Canada. From almost the onset of American railroads the 40 foot boxcar has been in existence. It began to disappear from the railroads in the 1960s.

Refrigeration was changing from the old ice method to the modern thermal air-condition cars that were self cooling. Also, the 40 footer was beginning to be too small. The larger 50 & 60 footers were taking over and they even experimented with 86 foot boxcars. The big railroads wanted to haul more goods and reduce the tonnage they had to haul. It took 125 40 foot boxcars to equal 100 50 foot boxcars. The reduction would be 25 less 40 foot boxcars times their empty gross wait.

This was certainly an advantage for the railroads let alone the maintenance of the smaller boxcar. With this in mind the majority of the model railroaders I know still prefer the 40 foot boxcar. They like the era from the late 1920s though the early 1960s. They are also very colorful and interesting. Many of these nostalgic colorfully designed boxcars are gone unless they might be in a railroad museum. There were so many different designs and logos to see.

The hobbyist still has the opportunity to find many of these colorful boxcars that are manufactured by several model railroad producers of freight cars. Some examples are Kadee, Intermountain, Athearn/Athearn Genesis, Accurail, Bachmann, Walthers, Red Caboose, Bowser, Roundhouse (Roundhouse is now makes only the pre twentieth century cars), Branchline, Life-Like, etc. There are several more that sell kit form freight cars as do some of the aforementioned companies. You can even get wood kits but they are not common.

Now for the types of 40 foot boxcars there are more than you may possibly think. The types of construction and usage varied. It all depended where the railroad was mainly located and types of products, food and perishables that were being shipped. From perishables, staples (wheat, Corn, Barley, Soy, etc.), equipment that needed to be enclosed, parts, manufacturing equipment that was relative small and the manufacturer did not want the tools and or equipment dinged by flying debris, ice, snow and heavy rain, and typical Midwestern hail storms.

Typically soft goods like flour, sugar, fruit, dairy products, and processed meats were hauled in 40 foot reefers. These boxcars are smaller in size than the standard 40 footer. The majority of these reefers were wood as were most of the other types of 40 foot boxcars. This changed however, as time went on to metal reefers.

There are multiple types of 40 foot steel boxcars. There are the following types:

40 Superior Door Boxcar; 40 Double Door Boxcar; 40 Ribbed Boxcar; 40 Modern Boxcar; 40 Express Boxcar; 1937 AAR 40 Boxcar; 40 12 Panel Boxcar; 40 AAR Modified Boxcar; 40 PS-1 Boxcar; 40 Boxcar w/Youngstown Doors; 40 Double-Door Boxcar; 40 High-Cube Boxcar; 40 Ribbed Boxcar; 40 Steel Boxcar w/6 Panel Doors; 40 Steel & Wood Ice Bunker Reefers; 40 Steel & Wood Boxcar. This includes several types of 40 stock cars.

In all they all had a specific purpose for the railroad as well as the user. Many of the reefers were labeled with the name of the product and producer of the goods being carried. There was Rath Black Hawk Meats, Swift, Carnation Dairy Products, Needham Meats, and major carriers such as Pacific Fruit Express. The Pacific Fruit Express Company (PFE) owned the largest number of reefer cars of any of the different reefer users. Union Pacific owned the second largest number of PFE reefers and pulled more reefers than any other railroad during that period of the 40 Boxcar/Reefer era.

As time has gone on the boxcar has almost disappeared from the railroads. However, the need for boxcars has now become critical. The Piggy Back and Double Stack Containers is not necessarily the means needed for some goods. The boxcar may indeed have a come back on the railroads of today.

Pubic Hair Removal - Tips When Waxing

Avoid showering and making the hair wet prior to waxing. Hair absorbs the water making it soft and less likely to adhere well to the wax. Tough hair is easier to pull off.

Be sure to test a small area of skin first to make sure there is no acute sensitivity or allergic reaction to pubic hair removal using waxing.

Hair should be at least 1/8 inch long. If it isn't wait until it reaches this length.

Be sure to wash the skin thoroughly and dry it well beforehand to remove any lotions or oils which may prevent the wax from adhering closely to the skin.

Heat the wax carefully so as not to overheat and thus burn the skin when applying. Test on a small area first.

The consistency should be soft rather than runny.

If pain and discomfort is a main concern use a pain reducing gel or cream available from pharmacists. These solutions should be applied 30 to 60 minutes before waxing so the skin is numbed beforehand.

Apply a thin layer of wax in the direction of the hair growth and peel back with a rapid movement close to the skin.

Do not pull up or out, rather pull back.

Clean the skin with a warm moist towel afterwards to remove excess wax.

Avoid wearing tight clothing over freshly waxed areas to minimize the risk of irritation and ingrown hairs. 24-48 hours after pubic hair removal waxing, exfoliate the skin (with a Loofa sponge for example) to prevent the dead skin from accumulating and causing hair to become ingrown.

Best Positions

Option 1. Sit in a chair with your feet up above your waist and legs spread apart.

Option 2. Sit with one leg propped above your waist and the other leg resting on the floor.

Option 3. Lie on your back with legs wide apart and raised in the air so that all the waxable areas are spread taut.

Option 4. Lie on your side with the bottom leg straight out and the top leg bent at the knee and tucked behind the straight leg.

Option 5. Bend the knees and keep the legs wide apart so the genital areas are easy to work on. Put a mirror on the ground if necessary for better control.

Mike Jones is a writer and webmaster with over 10 years experience. His recommendation: As waxing pulls hair out from the root, follow up with Kalo Hair Inhibitor Lotion. This solution penetrates the hair follicle and disables the mechanism of hair growth, thus making pubic waxing much easier over time.Danyette Blog37930

Simple Homeschool Success Tips

There certainly is an abundance of homeschooling information available and this is a good thing for the most part as long as you dont get bogged down in overload and suffer paralysis by analysis. There are a lot of wonderful articles and tips to help you insure your homeschool success.

So, through the experiences of my own and reading about those experiences and advice of others, here are some of, not only the best, but most universal home school success tips.

First of all have fun. Make learning fun. It should be for kids. And by the way, enjoy learning new things with your kids. There is some much in this world that we cannot control, so lets let control what we can our attitude and how we approach each and every day. Children will absorb your attitude and mood like a sponge, so stay upbeat and enthusiastic and your successes will reflect it.

Next, limit (or eliminate) your interruptions. This was my nemesis.

In this communication age in which we live, interruptions come at you from every direction, so youll need to stay focused. If dont have an answering device, get one. Turn the ringers off.

Educate your family and friends as to your homeschool schedule. And its not just the phones (cell included); its the drop by visitors as well. Keep your time you spend homeschooling your kids very sacred.

And while Im on this subject, this means that you cant be a distraction to your kids. By this I mean you cant be running around doing other things while your kids are trying to study and complete their assignments and projects. Stay focused on your childrens education during this time.

I mentioned paralysis by analysis earlier and this one dovetails off of that. Keep your teaching and homeschooling simple. With so much information and programs readily available to you, its easy to find yourself using an educational buffet of plans, curriculums, and approaches. Ultimately your kids and you wont like nor benefit from this.

Be flexible, be pragmatic if something isnt working, but dont be mercurial. And when it comes to being a homeschooling parent, you must take steps to organize and simplify your life. During your homeschooling year limit your commitments and outside activities keep your life simple and youll be happier; and with happiness comes success.

Dont beat yourself up! Have confidence. Know that you can do it. Your faith is your beacon. Reward is directly related to effort. If you are doing all that you can, your children will learn and be successful. Children learn throughout the world in all kinds of environments. Be enthusiastic with each new day, get help when you need it, stay on a path continual improvement, and your childrens educational success will follow.

If you get stuck read. Without reading skills your children will never reach their full potential. If your day becomes shot full of holes with lifes unplanned and uncontrollable events then take some time and read to and read with the kids. There is no better life preserver for a day that has spun out of control than to cuddle up and read with your children.

There are so many wonderful people involved in homeschooling, and with todays technology it is so easy to get in touch with these invaluable resources, you should not go wanting for advice, answers, or just some rejuvenating conversation and reassurance.

Online there are forums and support groups. Offline there is your church or library. Get in touch and be a part. As a homeschooler, you are in a sense a professional educator. Find yourself a couple of good publications and subscribe, or opt in to a few of your favorite newsletters. The message here is that you need not tackle everything solo.

When it comes to resources there is one out there that is often shadowed by the prevalence of the internet and that is your local library. Your library is a wonderful resource. Libraries are a tremendous resource for videos, audio tapes, learning materials for all subject matter (And of course books!). If you could only pick one resource and one resource only choose a library.

Take breaks. For me, taking shorter more frequent day breaks as opposed to less frequent longer breaks always worked better for my family and kids. Of course, the dynamics of every family is different, but if youve havent tried this approach you should. I think you and your kids will like it. Of course, Im not talking about a day off every other day but shorter more often day breaks give you a chance to re-energize and catch up.

I mentioned family dynamics; and since you will be homeschooling you will naturally be introducing a very different and time consuming aspect into your family dynamics.

There will times when there just arent enough hours in the day. This is why it is very important to stay focused and plan as best you can. Avoid those activities that steal your day away. Remember, you are homeschooling. Try to organize outside activities all into a day or two instead of spreading them out across your week and having constant little interruptions on a daily basis. I would much rather have longer days of outside activities, if it meant I could keep my homeschooling days uninterrupted. I found that my kids and my family appreciated this approach.

Unless you are an incredibly organized and efficient person that operates like a well oiled machine, youll find that all of the above wont come together for you over night. Dont feel disheartened it doesnt for anyone that I know of! No schedule is perfect all the time and no two schedules and organizational skills are the same. Work to sand, buff, and polish what works for you and over time you will find your stride.

How To Make An LED Candelabra

This candelabra is a great project combining 21st century crafts with art to produce a stunning, ivy covered tree structure, which is bound to get people talking. It is surprisingly easy to make, but you do need to do some electrical work and may have to do some soldering. The Funky LED candelabra would make a great technology project for school.

All you need to make the candelabra is...

8 wire coat hangers, a circular cake board, 10 LED Lights, card, silver spray paint, and electrical chocolate bock, cable ties, clear baubles, No Nails glue, bendable craft wire, electrical wire, soldering iron and solder (But not in all cases)

Cut and straighten out the coat hangers and re-model them to form 'C' shapes. Use two cable ties to hold the coat hangers together, forming a trunk.

Manipulate the branches to form appealing shapes. The LED lights will be at the tip of each branch, bear this in mind when you are shaping the tree and try to spread the lights evenly about so that the structure looks attractive from every angle.

At the base of the structure, the wire 'legs' are splayed out like the spokes of an umbrella. Make a small 90-degree turn at the end of each 'leg' to create a 'foot' (pointing down)

Each of the 'feet' needs inserting into a hole in the edge of the cake board. Use a hammer and a nail to make holes in the cake board. Tape the nail in a way and wriggle the nail about a bit before pulling it out, to enlarge the hole.

Fill the hole with no nails glue and push a foot into it. Hold it in place with selotape until the glue dries. Insert all of the wire feet into he cake board in this way.

Leave until the glue is completely dry and then remove all the pieces of selotape.

Using craft wire, make interesting twisty bits to decorate the candelabras branches. To make 'springs', wrap a length of wire around a pencil. To fix the wire in place, anchor it down by wrapping the end of the wire around the coat hangers forming the trunk. The wrapping around the trunk adds to the support of the structure when the cable ties are taken away.

Option 1 - There are a couple of options with the lights themselves. The '99p Store' sell 20 mini battery operated LED lights. You could use these lights as they are and have lights along the branches wherever the bulbs happen to be.

Option 2 - You could use these electrical parts from the 99p store lights to keep the costs down. This would also mean that you wouldn't need to solder, you could just twist wires together and wrap in insulation tape.

Option 3 - You could buy LED lights, resistor and a battery compartment separately, and solder the components together.

For the latter two options, you will need to apply 2 electrical wires for each bulb to the candelabra. The battery compartment will be hidden under the trunk of the tree. Leave 5cm surplus wire here for connecting to the battery compartment later. Twist the wire up and around the trunk and along the branches keeping your wires in pairs. This wire should create the effect of ivy growing up the structure. Again leave 5cm of wire at the end of the branch for connecting the LED light.

8 of the LED lights will be situated at the ends of each ranch and the remaining two should be nestled from where the branches sprout.

Attach an LED bulb to each of the pairs of wires. You can solder the connections or twist them together if you have dismantled LED lights from the '99p Store'. If you twist the wires together you will need to wrap the join in insulation tape.

Use a small amount of tape to stick each bulb into place o the wire structure.

Mask each bulb with newspaper and selotape and spray paint the structure with silver spray paint. Also spray the out side of the battery compartment. Use the spray paint in accordance with the instructions on the back of the tin. You may need to give your tree 2 coats of paint for a really good Finnish. Leave until completely dry and remove masking from the bulbs.

Pull the plastic hanging devices off each bauble, leaving a hole or a tunnel going into the baubles. Use a small amount of clear drying glue to stick each LED light inside the hole of the baubles.

To wire up the 10 LED lights to the battery compartment you need to put new working batteries into the battery compartment. LED lights will only wire up one way so you need to find out which wires go where from the pairs of wires at the base of the tree.

Strip a small portion of its plastic covering, from the two wires on the battery compartment, as if you were getting ready to join the wires. Mark one of the wires with a small piece of electrical tape.

Go through each pair of wires at the bottom of the candelabra in turn; stripping away and amount of plastic sheath and holding the bare wires against the two wires connected to the battery compartment. If a bulb doesn't come on, swap the wires over.

When the bulb comes on, mark the wire that joins to the wire marked with electrical tape. Eventually you will end up with 10 marked pieces of wire and 10 unmarked pieces of wire.

Take the marked ends of wire and twist them together in groups of 3 or 4 ends, and push the 3 groups into the first 3 spaces of an electrical chocolate block. Screw them in. Do a similar thing with the unmarked wires, pushing them into spaces 4,5 and 6 on the chocolate block on the same side as the marked wires. Screw them all in firmly.

Next cut two 4 cm pieces of wire, and strip both ends. Twist one end together with the marked wire from the battery compartment, and twist the other one to join the end of the first one. This gives you 3 twists of wire from the marked wire from the battery compartment. Push these three twists of wire into the chocolate block to join the marked wires from the structure, in spaces 1, 2 and 3. Repeat this procedure for the unmarked wires, pushing the twists into spaces 4, 5 and 6 to join the other unmarked wires. All the lights should now work.

Use glue to stick the battery compartment and the chocolate block to the cake board, directly under the trunk of the structure.

Cut out assorted sizes of ivy leaves from thin card. You will need 20 or 30 leaves in all. Use a needle to make a hole in each leaf where the stalk would be. Spray paint both sides of the ivy leaves silver and leave to dry.

Attack the leaves to the structure by threading the leaves individually on a short piece of craft wire, then bend the wire around the network of wires on the tree and twist the craft wire ends together to secure the leaf. Use the largest leaves at the bottom, gradually getting smaller further up the candelabra. Also, make sure that the bottom most leaves hide the battery compartment and chocolate block.

There you have made a stunning candelabra, which is bound to be a talking point wherever you place it.

Play Equipment Manufacturers-New Era in Safety

As Australia and the UK have increased their safety standards in recent years, more countries are following their lead and adopting higher standards for play equipment to help reduce playground accident rates.

Play equipment manufacturers such are rising to the challenge of designing and developing new, safer play equipment to meet these standards.

An example of play equipment manufacturers, rising to the challenge of designing new safer products, is the development of safety nets for trampolines.

Safety nets on trampolines have now become common place on many models and sizes of trampoline, as in the past the trampoline has been one of the most dangerous pieces of play equipment.

With the addition of safety nets and safety pads, as well as the use of trampolining accessories such as ladders and the weather covers, the trampoline has now become a relatively safe piece of play equipment and injury incidents have reduced dramatically.

Increasing safety in the playground or home play area is not just the job of play equipment manufacturers, as where the play equipment is installed and how it is installed are also key factors.

As the recent death of a 10 year old boy who fell from a horizontal track ride in Perth, Western Australia illustrates, having the correct impact attenuating surface in the fall zone is also a key requirement for a safe play area.

If a correctly installed soft play area and fall zone had been in place, combined with the use of corner safety pads, this little boy would more than likely be alive today.

Soft play areas and zones utilising the latest technology and products in harm minimisation are becoming more commonplace underneath and around play equipment and play areas.

With a quarter of all accidents reported around play equipment resulting from tripping or slipping, the surfacing of soft play zones and the deterioration of these surfaces needs to be constantly monitored and attended to.

With the use of new technology and materials, play equipment manufacturers are developing some fantastic new toys that are both safe and fun to use.

Using Risk Reversal Closes More Sales

When you minimize risk in purchasing decisions a lot more people are willing to say "yes". Once they sample your product or service, if it performs as you say, most customers will keep that product and continue buying again and again.

Here's a little story to illustrate my point.

A farmer wanted to buy a hunting dog for his son. There were two for sale in a nearby town. The first seller told the farmer he was asking $300 for his bloodhound, non-negotiable.

The second seller told the farmer about his bloodhound, long before he mentioned a price or asked for a commitment. He said the puppy was from a long line of champion bloodhounds, well-known in the area for their tracking skills. And he brought out the puppy's mother and father and explained that they were like members of the family - very loyal and constant companions for the last six years.

The man went on to tell the farmer that he wanted the farmer's son to try out the puppy for a month before he had to make any decision. He offered to provide an extra kennel and a month's worth of food for the puppy. Finally, he said, at the end of 30 days, he would drive out to the farmer's house and either take back the puppy, or ask then to be paid.

Which puppy do you suppose the farmer decided to purchase for his son? Obviously there was no question. And there will be no question for you if you apply strong risk reversal into every sales offer you make. What exactly do I mean by a strong risk reversal? I'm referring to an iron-clad guarantee that eliminates all, or most of all of the customer risk in the transaction.

The clearer, stronger and more detailed the guarantee, the more credibility and impact it will have on a buyer. Consider how much more powerful it is if instead of saying, "your satisfaction is guaranteed," you say, "we unconditionally guarantee performance for a full 30 days." That's better, wouldn't you agree? But, what if you went a step further and said, "No questions asked, 100% money-back guarantee anytime within 60 days if my product doesn't perform exactly as promised." That's even better. But you could go still further by saying, "No questions asked, 100% money-back guarantee. If you don't experience noticeable and measurable improvements in your speaking abilities, a wider vocabulary, and bolder voice delivery, if you don't get the results we promised within 90 days of using our system, we'll gladly give you a complete and immediate refund of your full purchase price, no questions asked...that's our guarantee to you."

Notice the difference a strong and specific risk-reversed performance guarantee can make? When you apply risk reversal this way, your sales almost always skyrockets, and stays that way. You make more sales, sell larger purchase units and sell more frequently when people don't worry about making the wrong or bad buying decision.

When you incorporate risk reversal, you essentially eliminate your prospect's fear that they will make a bad, incorrect or damaging purchasing decision. That's an extremely powerful, persuasive point to make. It moves anyone who's indecisive or mildly interested and turns them into highly favorable prospects. If people are trying to decide between you and one or more of your competitors, it tips the level of the playing field significantly to your advantage.

Just adding risk reversal and a purchase strong guarantee to your sales offer makes a powerful difference.

There are a variety of approaches to the risk reversal strategy:

* A software vendor guarantees its product will reduce manufacturing costs by at least 10 percent.

* A copywriter offers his services for free if his direct mail package pulls less than a 5 percent response.

* A commercial water filter distributor offers to buy back any filtering units not sold in the first 3 months.

* An interior decorator agrees (in writing) not to be paid until her customers are completely satisfied with the work she's done.

If you don't employ some form of risk reversal, start doing it right away. If your current guarantee is short and vague, enhance your copy with more specifics and more attractive terms.

If your product or service is high quality and meets performance expectations, the longer the guarantee and the more specific the performance promise you make, the more people will buy. It's that simple.

Typically a 60-day guarantee will out pull 30 days by 20 to 100%. Test it yourself and see what results you get. The more specific you get in describing what "satisfaction" means, the more compelled they become to act in order to experience that benefit for themselves.

If you're concerned that employing a strong risk reversal will cost you in product returns and lower profits, don't be. Typically, unless your product or service is flawed or just plain inferior in terms of meeting customer expectations, the number of people exercising a refund guarantee is negligible. But the increase in people taking you up on the initial sales offer is anything but negligible.

Microwave Convection Ovens: For Tasty & Nutritious Meal

Microwave ovens help cook any food with amazing speed. The convection facility in a microwave oven allows a 'airflow' circulation that heats up any food in less time using much less electricity.

Cooking in microwave ovens is a lot faster than conventional methods of cooking. The oven operates at much lower temperatures and reduces 20% of cooking time compared to other ovens.

With microwave cooking, nutrients are preserved and the actual taste of the food remains intact. Only a minimum quantity of oil is required to cook any dish.

Food cooked in microwave convection ovens is as nutritious as food cooked in other ways, and studies suggest that microwave ovens retains more vitamins, minerals and nutrients than boiling. Nutrients like vitamin A and E are less likely to be destroyed. This is good for health.

Microwave ovens are easy to clean and maintain. Clean the exterior part by wiping it with a damp cloth. The interior portion should be cleaned with a cloth soaked in warm soapy water.

There are some misconceptions though, about microwave ovens:

Microwave energy changes the chemical composition of food.

- But there is no evidence of poisonous or dangerous compounds created by microwave convection ovens.

Eating food cooked in the microwave exposes you to radiation.

- As soon as the oven is switched off, there are no longer any microwaves in the oven or the food. There is no evidence that microwave exposure, at any level, either causes or promotes cancer and other radioactive diseases.

Besides these, another argument against microwave ovens is that, food doesn't get heated evenly, which means there are cold spots and hot spots. Bacteria and other microorganisms can flourish in the cold spots.

- But this argument can be countered too. Smaller portions cook more evenly than large portions. Thorough heating is possible, simply by chopping the food into small and similar sized chunks.

You can also ensure a more even temperature, by using shallow and round containers, rather than the square and high-topped containers in the commercial convection ovens.

There are different kinds of microwave ovens in the market. Some noteworthy are Merrychef microwave ovens, Panasonic commercial microwave, commercial pizza ovens... Get one today and serve yourself, your family, friends & guests with tasty, healthy and delicious food!

Battery Chargers Keeping You Ready For Action

Battery Chargers are tremendously useful, allowing us to put power into rechargeable batteries and thus reuse them repeatedly without having to buy more for a long time. They are usually used in the home but variants can be found for power tools and various other devices that run on a local battery. The great thing is not just the saving on new batteries, but the fact that with spare charged batteries and the lack of need for a battery shop, chargers let us use our electrical devices wherever we need to and without a mains cable.

The standard battery charger is a box shaped unit that has slots for several household batteries. The most basic chargers simply put the mains electric current into the batteries, filling it constantly, which can cause overcharging and loss of quality if they are left in. They can also be found with timers that just charge for a set time and then shut off, preventing overcharging but generally only fitting the batteries they are sold for.

More advanced chargers monitor the current voltage of the battery, allowing them to see how much charge is currently held and only charge the battery as much as is needed. They can detect a full battery and switch to a trickle of power that just keeps it topped up, and should not overheat or overcharge. They can even be found in a super fast form, which usually has special batteries and a special charger that charges very quickly and has its own cooling system such as a fan. These are often sold with cameras and other personal battery powered equipment to allow a person more freedom.

Unfortunately some items that use batteries and stuck with their specific charger. Mobile phones are the most prevalent personal technology of our time, but they are charged by keeping the battery inside and plugging the unit into a wall socket with a specific adapter. This means that you need to have the adapter for full mobility. Some companies have addressed with charging kiosks that have a variety of plugs and let you pay for a single charging.

How Phone Verification Fights Identity Theft

Just like anything on Earth modern society has some kind of balance. So on one hand we have a progressive electronic community and on the other hand we have army of internet criminals whose both work and fun consists of so called identity theft.

As the main weapon of a scammer is his anonymity the main purpose of a Site Owner consists in confirmation of Users identity.

There are some methods to verify website user's identity. Confirmation by email is used when it concerns password reminder service; e-merchants use AVS checking to authorize their customers as true cardholders while processing credit cards in e-shops and so on.

But it's not enough. Passwords can be stolen through so called phishing. And Address Verification System is used in US and Canada only and moreover its scheme is rather imperfect.

There should be another solution.

And it does exist.

Telephone verification is a kind of universal method to verify user's identity. It works as follows:

A. A user enters his personal data including phone number at a certain site and presses "submit" button.

B. Phone verification system initiates a call to this number.

C. After greeting a system asks to enter pin-code that a user sees on the screen using a phone keypad.

D. A user enters pin-code and hangs up.

After a call is done system passes a merchant user's country and city by phone number area code, phone number type and matching of pin-code entered and pin-code shown on site. Some companies e.g. Proveout.com provides Geo IP research in addition to telephone verification. This allows to compare IP address data with phone number data (whether country and city identified by IP address matches the ones identified by phone area code).

It is a lot. It is surely enough to define whether a Customer is a person he seems to be - a real website user and a real cardholder.

Optionally system can ask a person to confirm his identity/order by saying something like his name or any other information that is recorded. Afterwards, such recordings can prove that a person had indeed used certain service (ordered certain goods). A Site Owner can download a wav-file with a recorded voice message of a customer at any time as it is saved on server of telephone authorization service provider.

This is telephone verification and how it works.

Where telephone verification is used

1. E-commerce. Identity theft is a serious problem for plenty of merchants. Telephone verification helps to reduce fraudulent transactions. Customer just passes the standard procedure of authorization and proves that he is a true cardholder. Recorded message with Customers voice can afterwards become a proof of ordering a good/service by a certain person.

2. Any website where registration/authorization is required. VoIP telephone verification can be used at the registration stage in order to confirm users' identity (e.g. it's of high importance at different forums, online communities, online financial services etc). Also it can be used in case a user has lost his password. Sending it to a specific email address doesn't guarantee Site Owner cannot be completely sure that password reminder procedure isn't initiated by a scammer with an idea to manage somebody's personal data. Passing telephone verification by user can prove his identity.

3. Sites with free content limiting. Very often different companies carry on advertising campaigns that permit using their online services for free for certain time (trial periods). In order to anticipate multiple signing up (which is a bad experience for a marketing report) each new registration can be verified in order to prove that use hasn't signed up before.

4. Sites offering region limiting services. In some countries it is prohibited to distribute security software to certain countries. Using telephone verification service Site Owner can be sure that his new registered user doesn't live in one of these countries. Phone number area code helps to reveal user's location. This service is even more effective when it is used together with Geo IP research.

VoIP telephone service can be used for automation of webmaster's work by programming scheduled phone calls with a request of certain info or a confirmation of certain info. E.g. you can automatically initiate a call when a new order with shipment requirement is submitted in order to confirm shipment details. In case you're an owner of an internet-catalogue you can initiate a call e.g. once a month to the members of your catalogue in order to confirm that their sites still exist with the same domain names, so to confirm their membership.

You can use VoIP telephone verification as a perfect marketing tool. For example you can supply your Clients with information concerning some changes in their maintenance by phone or automatically play them greeting messages on specific dates.

To sum it up, I'm to say that there is a great variety of variants on how VoIP telephone verification can be used in internet space. You can offer another ways according to your e-business. It gives great opportunities to communicate with your Clients without being bounded by electronic means (email, ICQ).

Is Voice Changer a Threat or a Great Help for Voiceover Talents?

It looks like the bell has tolled on voiceover talents. A Voice Changer can now do it all.

The software, produced by AVnex and downloadable at www.audio4fun.com, can morph an input voice into hundreds of various ones. It can change sex, age, characteristic and species, among other things.

To name just a few, you can sound like a strict woman, a snowman, an innocent girl, Santa Claus, a dragon, a waterfall and most amusingly, a robot.

It enhances the voices too, with all the equalizers and effects at hands. You can preset the voices to be basic, gentle, silky, soft, clear, harsh, sharp or tender.

Or you can choose one of the music modes of classic, country, folk, jazz, pop, rap, reggae or rock, in case you want to produce a jingle.

So who needs an expensive voiceover talent or a skilled rapper?

It is always the same question: Technology versus nature.

Jane, a voiceover talent herself, is clear-cut on the matter. I dont see this Voice Changer Software as a threat, but a great assistant, said she when interviewed by AVnex.

Firstly, a bad voice is a bad voice no matter what you do to it. A deep, strong voice is always needed for the input.

Secondly, I found out that the morphing, though powerful, depends on the similarity of the input voice to be very successful. For example if you are a male and you want to sound exactly like a female, you need to speak in a slightly effeminate manner. So a bit of acting skills is required here.

A voice changer can be a threat, but only if you see it that way.

In fact it helps me to be more productive. I can give voice to more roles. Both my clients and I can save time and money.

Fix Computer Problems In A Jiffy With Rollback Rx

Rollback Rx system restore software is mandatory for every computer user to ensure system security and data loss prevention. More so in educational institutions dependent on PCs for their routine work, where a rollback tool is essential since most are multi user systems. PC restore is a regular operation that has to be done, to preserve data and to repair computer problems that might arise from misuse of computers. This can happen in many ways, but can be totally avoided with a disaster recovery solution like Rollback Rx.

Areas Where Rollback Rx Can Repair Computer Issues

In colleges and universities where several people use the same computer, students store their academic work in the form of reports, software programs, etc in various folders. Because many people use the same system, the necessity to fix computer problems arises when certain files or folders become deleted or moved. This could very well cause problems. With Rollback Rx, PC restore can be done easily to a secure state, to keep the operating system and other data intact.

Unauthorized Downloads Can Be Fixed With Rollback Rx

There is a tendency to download free programs that appear useful, little knowing that it can lead to security issues and computer repair. Viruses and spyware get into the system and crash the entire network. In such situations, Rollback Rx helps retrieve important data while removing all these unwanted elements from the pc network when a system restore is performed, preventing permanent damage and exorbitant costs.

Just imagine having the hard drive being deleted by a click of the mouse. When students handle computers, they are usually curious and tend to tinker around with settings and end up, sometimes unintentionally creating computer repair, putting the computers security at risk. When Rollback Rx is installed on the pc, it can be scheduled to take snapshots at specific intervals so that fixing computer problems becomes a quick task instead of creating several hours of downtime and data loss. This would avoid serious issues like certain scheduled activities being deactivated, antivirus programs being over-ridden or firewalls turned off, exposing the network to sabotage and other malware. With Rollback Rx, this sort of problem can be avoided and rectified easily, because it helps rollback the systems to a configuration that is suitable.

Rollback Rx system restore software is like a guardian for the PC network, avoiding computer repair and disaster through program failure or operating system malfunction. It keeps the system healthy and the user happy. While very simple to use, Rollback Rx has the options of selectively allowing only certain people to access it, thereby making it ideal where multi-user systems exist.

American Consumers Are Short on Discipline When it Comes to Parting With Their Income

Like a 4-year-old child at the checkout counter in a supermarket, American consumers want just one more impulse buy to make their buying day complete, and apparently the more expensive it is, the better.

Here is an example: A 68-year-old, semi-retired businessman shells out $600,000 for a recreational vehicle which costs about $550 to top off at the pump. He and his wife are tooling around the country in an effort to have fun while they can.

His comment on the decision is that "This isn't a dress rehearsal for life-this is it. We're curtailing nothing." Those big tears you see following his comment might well come from any children who see their inheritance fading away into the sunset with dad and mom.

Like a dog in heat, if we have it we tend to spend it in America.

All of this impulse buying is detailed in a recent USA Today article with this headline: "Spending is hotter than the 4th of July". And indeed it apparently is.

Although the median amount of credit-card debt carried by the typical American is about $6,600 (this is not a typo), 13% of respondents in a recent online poll reported balances higher than $25,000, according to CardTrack.com.

"Never have Americans, who have always liked their toys, been faced with a situation where their impulses are so hard to control," says Stuart Vyse, a professor of psychology and author of the upcoming book Going Broke: Why Americans Can't Hold on to Their Money.

The fact is that we as consumers can buy almost anything we want anytime we want on the easiest terms we want. Sellers and lenders have no compunctions about selling us what we do not need at a price we cannot afford and at a rate of payment that can eventually drive us into bankruptcy.

Sellers and lenders, especially credit card lenders, have raised this willingness to line their pockets at our expense to an art form. And yes, I understand and agree with the observation that we all need to be responsible for our actions.

What I do disagree with is this: How can doing the right thing with right thinking and right motives justify lending consumers money and credit when they do not deserve it, and then leaving them no smarter but broker and deeper in debt in the process?

All of this unmerited lending is creating and concentrating wealth among America's very rich, and the rich club in America is growing faster and farther away from America's poor and middle classes.

"For the first time in history, more than half of all earned income, specifically 50.4%, is going to 20% of the U. S. population, which amounts to $3.5 trillion in the hands of 23 million households," says Peter Francese, a demographic trends analyst for ad and marketing giant Ogilvy & Mather.

So more than half of the earned income in America is going to 20% of the population, leaving the other half to 80% of the working stiffs that are left to continue buying things they do not need at prices they cannot afford on credit.

A key component of this impulse spending happens because too many Americans think they can afford it when they cannot.

Families are less frugal today, in part because only 25% of households have married couples with children, a significant drop from 50% in 1960 and the lowest percentage in census history. We have a census procedure in this country to learn these kinds of sociological shifts.

There are more working couples without children who have more disposable income and keep spending rather than realizing their good fortune and saving. Leading the spending spree are the seniors mentioned at the beginning of this article.

Seniors have so much spendable income that a Luxury Marketing Council has been created to advise top brands on consumer trends for a growing group of seniors that have at least $1 million in liquid assets. They do not need to sell their home to buy a $125,000 Maserati, they simply write a check out of one of their accounts.

I personally would not encourage this kind of spending among any consumers, and especially on an automobile which is a decreasing asset. If you cannot control your impulse to buy, at least buy land or developed properties that might well appreciate over time.

The USA Today article carried information by Pitney Bowes MapInfo which identified the Top 20 Counties nationwide with the highest average expenditures annually per household. Here are the Top 7:

1) Marin, CA - $68,782

2) Fairfield, CT - $65,263

3) Fairfax, VA - $63,569

4) San Mateo, CA - $63,229

5) Morris, NJ - $62,995

6) Somerset, NJ - $62,345

7) Westchester, NY - $61,425

I identify these counties as "high rent districts" which are too expensive for most people to buy a home. One thing is for sure, if you do not make some major money, you are not going to be able to keep up with those earners who can.

Not all of us suffer from this apparent impulse to buy.

The answer to impulse control just might be in yoga. Yoga taught me "impulse control", the ability to feel an urge and delay acting on it. Yoga also taught me that when stability becomes a habit, maturity and clarity follow.

While earning money has a way of increasing financial intelligence quickly, I learned a long time ago that a fool and his money are some parted.

I will keep the $125,000 and you can have the Maserati. I will keep the $600,000 and you can have the recreational vehicle. Eventually, cash is king; the car and the recreational vehicle will eventually end up in the junkyard with a lot of other impulse purchases.
